Privacy notice

Last updated October 8, 2026

Land to Village is a small research project, not a platform with accounts, logins, or advertising. This notice says plainly what we collect, what never leaves your browser, how long we keep things, and how to ask us to change or delete what we hold.

What we collect, and why

Suggesting a correction

The “Suggest a correction” form on a community profile or a guide sends your email address, your description of what looks wrong, and an optional supporting link to a private review queue. A person reads it and checks it against sources. It is never published, and your email address is never shown on the page or passed to the community or anyone named in the guide.

Start a Village

Start a Village walks you through questions about land, a group, or a concept, and offers to submit what you entered for review. Three kinds of submission exist, and each creates a private record, never a public one:

Every submission also records a checkbox confirming you understood that it is nonbinding - not a purchase, investment, membership, or legal commitment. No submission is offered an email alert or a marketing update today: those features do not exist yet (no worker sends mail from this application), so consent for them is always recorded as declined rather than offered and ignored.

Withdrawing an expression of interest

The withdrawal page asks for the reference code from your receipt and the email address you used, and uses both together to find and withdraw that one record. We deliberately give the same answer whether the code is wrong, the email does not match, or the record was already withdrawn, so that a repeated attempt cannot be used to confirm that a particular reference and address are on file.

What stays only in your browser

As you answer Start a Village’s questions, your answers are kept in this browser’s local storage, not sent to a server, until you ask for your plan or choose to submit something. If you close the tab without submitting, nothing about your answers reaches us. Clearing your browser’s site data removes them. They never appear in a web address, which matters because addresses end up in browser history, referrer headers, and server logs in ways a person rarely expects.

Aggregate counts that identify no one

When you reach the end of a Start a Village plan, we record a small, non-identifying count: the general path, region, and a few concept tags, and whether a reviewed match existed. It carries no plan identifier, no session identifier, and no contact detail, and cannot be traced back to you. It exists so we can tell, in aggregate, where demand is and where our research has gaps. The counts have no deletion date, because they hold nothing about any person; this is first-party measurement, not third-party analytics.

Hashed addresses

In one place today - an operator’s review of a profile we have previewed to them - a failed submission is logged with a salted, one-way hash of the sender’s IP address, never the address itself, so we can look into abuse without holding anyone’s raw address.

Retention, stated honestly

An expression of interest carries a retention date and is kept for up to one year from submission, unless you withdraw it sooner using the page above. A land review request, a founder concept draft, and a correction report do not yet have an automatic deletion schedule in this system - we say so here rather than imply a timer that does not exist. Whatever the form, you can email us at any time and ask us to delete, correct, or send you a copy of what we hold about you, and we will act on that by hand.

Who processes this

The site is hosted on Netlify. The database behind every form above is run by Supabase. Neither is Land to Village, and both are infrastructure providers rather than recipients of your data for their own purposes. Like any web host, Netlify keeps standard request logs, which include the IP address and browser of each visit, under its own retention rules.

Video and social links

Where this site embeds a YouTube video, it loads nothing from YouTube until you press play, and then only through youtube-nocookie.com, Google’s privacy-reduced player domain. Once you press play, YouTube’s own privacy terms apply to that playback. Instagram and Facebook posts are linked out to, never embedded, so visiting this site does not load anything from either of them.
